1. Information we collect

You can play Couplescade without an account, and playing does not require your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location.

To run the games, we process:

• Game data: room codes, in-game moves and answers, stories you write together, and drawings you make in drawing games. A room's contents can be read by anyone who has its room code while the room is active (until 12 hours after its last move), so only share your code with the person you want to play with.
• Drawings: in drawing games, each picture is uploaded as an image file to a storage bucket so your partner's device can show it. These files are publicly readable by anyone who has their web address (the address is only shared inside the room), and new files can only be added to a room that is currently being played.
• A random player ID generated on your device, used only to reconnect you to a game you were playing. It is not linked to your identity.
• Technical data such as IP address, browser or device type and timestamps, which our hosting providers process to deliver the service, prevent abuse and keep short-term logs.
• Feedback: when you tap "Loving it!" or "Needs improvement" in the feedback prompt, we store that choice together with your platform (web or Android) and your browser's user-agent string, even if you don't write a message. If you write a message, we store it the same way. Please don't include personal information in feedback.
• Contact form: if you contact us through the form on our website, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, so we can reply. The form is delivered to us by Web3Forms.

2. Analytics

On the website we use Google Analytics; in the Android app we use Google Analytics for Firebase instead (the website's Google Analytics tag is not loaded in the app). We use them to understand how the games are used, for example which games are played most and how long sessions last, and we look at this in aggregate to improve Couplescade.

In the Android app, Google Analytics for Firebase collects an app instance identifier and, where your device allows it, the Android advertising ID, along with device model, operating system version and approximate location derived from your IP address. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your device's Google settings. On the website you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

3. Advertising

To keep Couplescade free, the website may show ads provided by Google AdSense. Ads are not shown in the Android app. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance, which can include showing ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.

• Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), consent for personalised ads and advertising cookies is requested through Google's consent message, and you can change your choice at any time.
• You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ad Settings, or opt out of third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info.
• Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

4. Notifications

If you allow notifications in the app, your device is registered with Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you occasional messages (for example, when a new game is added). We may send a message to everyone or to a group of app users defined with Google Analytics for Firebase (for example, people who played a particular game). The app may also show reminders that are scheduled on your device. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Couplescade:

• Supabase: game rooms, drawings and feedback storage (supabase.com/privacy)
• Web3Forms: delivers contact form messages to us by email (web3forms.com/privacy)
• Cloudflare: website hosting and the real-time connection between players (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy)
• Google: Analytics, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Cloud Messaging, AdSense, and Google Fonts (game pages load their fonts from Google's servers, which receive your IP address) (policies.google.com/privacy)

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

6. Data retention

• Game rooms (moves, answers and stories) can only be read or changed for 12 hours after the last move. After that they are kept as a record of past games, which we use to understand how the games are played and to fix problems. If you would like a room deleted, contact us with the room code.
• Drawing image files are kept in storage. If you would like a drawing removed, contact us with the room code.
• Feedback is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the app.
• Server logs kept by our hosting providers are deleted automatically after a short period.

7. Your choices

You can use Couplescade without providing any personal information. You can manage cookies in your browser settings, change your advertising choices as described above, and turn off notifications in your device settings. If you would like us to delete feedback, a message you sent or a drawing, contact us with the date (and, for a drawing, the room code) and roughly what it contained.

8. Children's privacy

Couplescade is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
